Minecraft's standard ore selection has served us well, but true crafters demand more. Enter Expansive Ores — a comprehensive addon that doesn't just introduce new minerals but reimagines their purpose with an extensive crafting ecosystem. With so many ores, it will take time to grind your way to the top-tier ores. Just like with vanilla ores, you can't just jump to gathering Diamond with a Wooden Pickaxe — it will bring nothing. The best pickaxe that can gather all ores will be the one made out of Rhodium or Topaz. But if you'd try to break a Uranium Ore using an Amber Pickaxe, you'd fail.
Drills are a new type of tool that break blocks instantly, significantly increasing the efficiency of gathering ores. This is basically the endgame of all mining tools in the game.
Blocklings are small creatures that are made from ores and can become your companions. Tame a Blockling with Gold, Iron, or Copper ingots — it will require at least several for success. From the moment of being tamed, the creature will follow you around and attack anyone who is posing a danger to you, just like a wolf. What sets it apart is the commands menu, which you can awaken by tapping the Blockling. The command menu has additional behavior options like Passive mode, Prowl mode, and Guard mode, allowing for nuanced control.
Another fun feature is Ore Mobs, which are regular mobs with ores in their loot tables. It's cool because one thing you can do with them is make automatic mob farms to get ores. Pigmen, Zombies, Withers, and Skeletons are used as a base for these types of mobs.
Expansive Ores introduces several custom crafting tables: Ring Table, Trident Table, Copper Table, Bow Table, Ore Extractor, and Amber Table. So, before jumping into the comments saying you can't find how to craft some of the items — they may require the usage of one of these custom crafting tables. You also will need to install a separate pack available in the download section for this functionality to work.
Make sure to enable all Experimental gameplay toggles.
