Spellcasting
Becoming a spellcaster requires a bit of preparation. First, you will need to craft an Arcane Table, which is used to craft wands, scrolls, spellbooks, and runes. The other main source for magic-related items is the Sage trader, whom you can stumble upon while exploring the world.
Once you've gathered some of the basic items for spellcasting, here is how the system works:
- Scrolls: Can be scribed to cast any spell directly, but they are a consumable resource.
- Wands & Spellbooks: Required to cast spells with cooldowns.
- Wand Progression: Basic wands can only cast certain spell types, while advanced wands can cast all of them.
- Setup: Place a wand in your off-hand slot, hold a spellbook in your main hand, and tap to cast.
I have to admit that the magic mechanics and visual effects here aren't quite as advanced as some dedicated magic mods. Spells like Blizzard and Ignis simply look and act like straightforward projectiles. However, other utility spells — like Windwake (which boosts your character forward) or Deathsong (which summons friendly mobs) — add some great gameplay variety.
Alien Gadgets
The alien technology brought by the Outsiders sits on the opposite end of the spectrum in this addon. The Autonetic Station acts as your primary crafting bench for gadgets. To master their tech, you'll need to venture into the End dimension to gather materials used in Outsider machinery.
By harnessing the unique properties of cosmic ore, you can craft items like the Blaster and the Outsider Armor Set (which works similarly to gold armor against Piglins, making the Outsiders neutral toward you). The Blaster uses radioactive vials as ammunition, but despite that, its damage output feels surprisingly weak — it took me two full shots just to down a cow!
New minerals, strange wildlife, and revamped world generation all make exploring Terra a thrilling experience.
