Proximity chat addon

Proximity Text Chat addon brings a new layer of realism to Minecraft Bedrock by introducing a chat system based on player distance. Instead of seeing messages from everyone in the world, you can now only chat with players who are close to you, just like in real life.

This addon is designed for players who enjoy roleplay, survival multiplayer, or tightly-knit community servers. It changes how communication works in the game by limiting chat visibility to players within a certain number of blocks from each other.

Key features include:

Customizable chat range: Set the exact number of blocks players need to be within to talk to each other. Admins can lock this setting to prevent changes.
Realistic silence: If no one is near you, trying to chat will show the message “Nobody can hear you.”
Rank customization: Add unique ranks next to player names. You can edit the name, color, and appearance of each rank using templates.
Admin controls: Only players with special tags can access settings menus, ensuring server rules stay in place.

It does require Experimental features to be turned on, so make sure that’s enabled before use.

How to Set It Up

  • Use /function proximity/menu to open the settings.
  • Adjust the chat range, toggle options, or assign player ranks.
  • You can also use the Proximity Tag Manager to give players roles or change ranks manually using tags.
